Five Year Review of the Central Pine Barrens Plan

The Commission is currently undertaking a five year review of the Central Pine Barrens Plan.  The following hearing notice was originally published in advance of the 6/6/01 public hearing soliciting comments upon the Plan and its effectiveness in achieving the goals of the State pine barrens law.  The hearing was held, comments were received, and the Commission will soon commence the detailed work of reviewing those remarks and suggestions.  Interested persons can contact the Commission Office directly (see the information below) regarding this work.  The original hearing notice is retained here for information purposes:
 

 
Invitation to participate in a Public Hearing
regarding the Five Year Review
of the Central Pine Barrens Comprehensive Land Use Plan

What is the Purpose of the Hearing?

The Central Pine Barrens Commission invites all interested persons to provide public comment on the effectiveness of the implementation of the Central Pine Barrens Comprehensive Land Use Plan.

This hearing is being conducted as part of the Commission's five year review of the Plan, pursuant to NY Environmental Conservation Law Section 57-0121(13). All interested individuals are invited to present comments - either in person or in writing - on the Plan at this time. These comments will be considered by the Commission in its review of the effectiveness of the Plan.

The Plan consists of two volumes: Volume 1: Policies, Programs and Standards, and Volume 2: Existing Conditions. Since its initial adoption in June 1995, there have been two amendments to the Plan, in 1996 and 2001.
