Westhampton Operations Center, County Road 31, Westhampton


From the West or the East:

From Sunrise Highway (NYS Route 27), take Exit 63 South onto County Road 31 (Riverhead-Westhampton Road).  Immediately after merging onto CR 31 - within one quarter mile - look for a left turn (i.e., easterly turn) into the parking lot and entrance to the SCWA facility.  This parking lot also serves as the Dwarf Pine Interpretive Trail parking lot, and you will see signs for the trailhead parking.  Please park in the front of the facility, and do not enter the rear work yard (demarcated by a chain link fence).
 

From the North (Riverhead):

At the traffic circle on Peconic Avenue (at the Riverhead - Southampton Town line and adjacent to the downtown Riverhead business district), take County Road 104 south from the circle.  This will go through the David Sarnoff State Preserve for several miles, and immediately after that there will be a fork:  CR 104 will head east (left) and CR 31 will begin and head west (right).  Take the CR 31 turn to the right (west), and follow CR 31 over the Sunrise Highway (NYS Route 27).  Immediately after passing over Sunrise Highway - within one quarter mile - look for a left (easterly) turn into the parking lot and entrance to the SCWA facility.  This parking lot also serves as the Dwarf Pine Interpretive Trail parking lot, and you will see signs for the trailhead parking.  Please park in the front of the facility, and do not enter the rear work yard (demarcated by a chain link fence). 
 

From the South (Westhampton and Montauk Highway (CR 80)): From Montauk Highway in Westhampton, take County Road 31 north past Gabreski Airport heading in the general direction of Riverhead.  You will pass straight through the Stewart Avenue intersection and traffic traffic at the entrance to the airport.  A short drive north past the airport property will take you to a right (easterly) turn into the parking lot and entrance to the SCWA facility.  This parking lot also serves as the Dwarf Pine Interpretive Trail parking lot, and you will see signs for the trailhead parking.  Please park in the front of the facility, and do not enter the rear work yard (demarcated by a chain link fence).

Once parked, you will see the Dwarf Pine Interpretive Trail entrance on the southerly end of the front parking lot.  Please use caution crossing the active entrance to the SCWA facility.
