FT210 Wildland Fire Origin and Cause Determination

The primary purpose of this course is to provide a consistent knowledge and skill base for the Wildland Fire Investigator (INVF). The concepts taught in this course will help an INVF perform at an acceptable level on a national basis without regard to geographic boundaries. The course is presented by lectures, electronic presentations, field exercises, and class discussion.

Prerequisite(s): None

 

Bring the following mandatory items to class:

Completion of pre-work: The Pre-Course Work module and exam are available in the NWCG Wildland Fire Learning Portal (WFLP).  Log on to search for this course or go directly to FI-210 Wildland Fire Origin and Cause (Pre-Course Work) 2016 v2 | Wildland Fire Learning Portal. Required equipment: Leather lug sole boots (no hiking boots) - Leather gloves – Fire Shelter - Clipboard or Tatum

** Nomex pants & shirt – eye protection hard hat with chin strap

** If agency does not provide these items they can be checked out from the academy supply cache

Optional equipment: NFPA#921 Guide for Fire & Explosion Investigations (Order at www.nfpa.org)  - Belt Weather Kit or Kestral - GPS unit or compass – Laptop computer – Digital Camera  (These are not required but very helpful for class)                   
**  You will be in working outside during this class make sure you are prepared for the weather!!
