This course is designed as a self-assessment opportunity for individuals preparing to step into a leadership role. Course combines one day of classroom instruction followed by a second day in the field with small teams working through a series of problem solving events.
Topics include leadership values and principles, transition challenges for new leaders, situational leadership, team cohesion factors, ethical decision making, and after action review techniques. Some course aspects involve physical tasks.
Course is also suitable for any individual who plans on becoming a supervisor, or for newly appointed supervisors seeking to develop their leadership skills.
Prerequisite(s): Completion of pre-course work & L-180. Wildland firefighters should have experience on incident assignments in operations or support functions.
