The Central Pine Barrens Commission is exploring the feasibility of creating a state-of-the-art, sustainably designed, interpretive nature center located within the 106,000-acre Central Pine Barrens region.
The work on this study is currently underway with consultant Marvel Design guiding the process with technical and professional assistance from the Center Planning team, a collaboration of professionals with expertise in the creation and operation of nature centers, historic and cultural resources of the pine barrens, pine barrens ecology, and educational and interpretive programming. The feasibility study will examine potential locations, target audience, educational programming and community services that the nature center could provide along with financial considerations for the creation and operation of the center.
For these important feasibility study components, the Commission sought input from the public through two public engagement sessions in summer and fall 2025.
